Day 3: September 3, 2014
"Treat others the way you want to be treated." That was the golden virtue all throughout grade school. You want respect you have to give. What about humility? Kindness? Lately I've been finding myself being tested in this area. For example, today at work I had an encounter with a women who walked into our office. She ever so kindly came in asking if we had a bathroom her child could use. "Sorry ma'am but we don't have public restrooms here." "Not even for a baby?" She asked. "No, sorry. But there's a bathroom next door at Ralph's." *walks out, mumbles up a curse storm* I could've done the same, gave her a special finger, been bitter the rest of my day and yet all I could feel was love. For this woman and her children. Just like Christ would have done. Kindness doesn't just go to those who give it, it goes for everyone. Later on at discipleship we read in Ephesians 4 where we talked about putting off the old us and putting on the new. The old Jessica would've threw a fit but the new Jessica wants to portray Christ. "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32.
God help me to continuously practice and pursue to be like you, putting off my old self and putting on the new.
Super duper tired, sorry if I was all over the place haha!
