365 Days of Twenty: Long Saturdays. Day 6/365

Day 6: September 6, 2014

Talk about a productive Saturday. Most of my Saturdays are spent coming home from the academy and hitting the hay afterwards because I'm so tired. Today howevs, I wanted to go out, hang out. To be quite honest I don't think I had a bad part of my day. Well maybe my attitude, but I quickly prayed for God to humble me because I kind of annoyed myself. As I start to look at my overall day it's kind of cool to see how there's so many highlights rather than "lowlights." It shows me that even the worst parts don't overshadow the best. I started my long morning at the academy. I love it. It truly has my heart. There's so many different people with different backgrounds and home life's it's pretty interesting. A lot of Latinos, I mean A LOT! Majority of them actually. There's also a lot of kids with broken homes. By no means is my home perfect either but I'm sure that broken homes can affect them a lot, which is why this place has my heart. There's a need there. As we get closer to our 18 weeks we start to make closer friendships as well. Today I was also challenged by a platoon mate. He asked about my purity ring. (We were talking about dating and relationships today) To my embarrassment I couldn't really answer his question but I told him I would get back to him on that next week. Im looking forward to how that goes. Second highlight of my day was visiting one of my favorite family's, the Mascardos. The kids finally have my name! haha They're the cutest things on earth and seeing them play and ask questions is cute thing to see. Xu is always so welcoming with her home and I love it! Feels like home away from home and she always has food too! Bless her big heart. We of course had to watch frozen our favorite movie and Izzy seemed to love it! I love how open the kiddos start becoming once they get to know you. Thanks guys! The third part of my day, man oh man. 'Twas the first time in months I have been out late on a Saturday. What turned out to be a block party at Jackie's house ended up being us at the beach at 12 in the morning. We started at her house, went to Gable house, (where Isaac twerked) then PV bowl (the entrances only FYI). Then we contemplated where we would go. We ended up saying hey let's go to a "rage" in. Only to find out this rage has been cancelled. Gee thanks party hosts. It was a bunch of laughs though so I didn't mind driving around. We seen someone else looking for the "rage" too, we should've told the poor guy it was cancelled HA! We ended up going to the beach after for a few minutes where Isaac got his "rage" on for a few and called it a night. Overall I was blessed with a day filled with friends whom I love.

Thank you God for allowing me to see the beautiful things in life. I pray that you would consistently open my eyes up to that daily.

Night or morning now,

Xoxo Jess
